The DepaMBw came into the picture, he said, when the manufacturer, The White House Company, of Harrison, N.J. began making fertilizer claims. That brought Loamium under the Virginia Fertilizer Law.
State - chemists analyzed a sample of Loamium and found 1.4 per cent .nitrogen, 2.5 per cent phosphoric acid and 1.23 per cent potash, the three principle plant foods.
The label, Brinkley said, claimed 15 per cent nitrogen 15 per cent available phosphoric acid and 15 per cent potash.
The chemists gave the product the benefit of the doubt, since they assumed that all the plant food they found was actually available to the soil, Brinkley said.
“Their fertilizer claims on the Loaimium label are false and misleading,” the Commissioner said, “but - they are conservative . compared to claims made by this company in fullpage newspaper advertising."
