Open air art exhibits are oply one innovation to this season’s Festival which is offering motoring' music lovers five Sunday-afternoon concerts plus an expanded Workshop program for serious music scholars, whicji has resulted in the leasing pf the Stuyvcsant School for Hoys in Warrenton to meet the demand of an estimated 62 students.

Sparked by an opening season that concentrated on the efforts of Washington, Virginia to bring music to the region, this year’s Festival has*? grown into a consolidated effort by Flint Hill, Sperryville and Washing^ ton to unite Northern Virginia support for thT musical"'project Easily™ accessible to nearby' Warrenton, Orange, Luray and Mitldleburg, site for the Festival at \gjfn Mills makes it convenient to residents of Washington, D. C. as well as Maryland and West Vrginia music lovers. Situated on U. S. Route 211 (Lee Hghway), Avoir Mills is the preRevolutionary War grist mill on the banks of Rush Rver which has been converted to theatre proportions with the loading platform serving as a stage for the musicians, and a reconstructed water wheel doubling as a conductor’s podium. A summer project of the Virginia Symphony Orchestra, the idea of forming a southern Tanglewood musical project with natural rustic charm originated with Conductor W illiam Haaker, who* performed a similar musical service in, the midforties for the people of'Arkansas with the Ozark Music Festival. In addition to two full scale State symphony programs, this'year’s Festival will also spotlight Haaker in his role of celebrate concert pianist when he presents a solo recital on Sunday, August ID. Memberships are available from regional board members and tickets for individual concerts may be obtained at the hestival before each concert. Program will begin at 4pm (E. S. T.),
