3 New Buildings
At State Fair —
Three new buildings are nearing completion ©n the grounds of the Atlantic Rural Exposition to provide additional facilities for the 1952 State Fair here September 19-27, J.A. Mitchell, the exposition’s general manager, announced today. - A $9,000 concrete block building in the grandstand area, to provide additional comfort stations was scheduled to be pressed into service over the " past week-end for the 200-mile ’ championship auto faces. The Junior Exhibits Building, made possible by a $10,000 gift from the Sears Roebuck Foundation, is about 80% complete. Workmen have finished the welded steel framework and metal roof. Concrete block sides and seats are to be added. It covers 5,400 sq. feet and will be used as a judging area for Junior exhibitors. . Also about 50% complete is the ■ Junior Club Building of concrete and concrete block construction. Funds amounting to $20,000 for this structure, to provide dormitory facilities, showers, etc., for Juniors, were donated by the Old Dominion Foundation. Ft occupies 2,132 sq. feeC
More than a half mile of new water and sewer lines have been installed to accommodate the new buildings.
Exhibit buildings, pylons, fences, and concession stands are receiving their bright new colors in preparation for the “big show,” that will be the 1952 Atlantic Rural Exposition. Everywhere there is activity as the showgrounds are made ready for the thousands of visitors that annually flock to see what’s new in agriculture, commerce-and industry.
