Use your steam iron - or another iron over a damp cloth - to remove marks left on carpets by the pressure of furniture. Steam the spot for a minute or so, but don't press down on the iron. Then brush the pile gently back into position. You can use the same treatment for matted areas. Be careful not to have the iron too hot if the carpet is nylon.
