Demand for Virginia hay should continue to be good, i We’re in the mid-winter heavy feeding period. Weather, however, will be the * big factor governing needs. ; Prices should hold through | February, but it is not like- j ly we will have any big in- j crease due to competition j from western markets. January stocks are up 5 j per cent for the nation, but | the big increase is in the) north-central and western ' regions where they had bun* per crops. In the South At- j lantic and south-central regions stocks are below a year earlier. In the North Atlantic region hay stocks are one-third below a year ago. Lower domestic stocks j in this region are due to I sharply reduced production | in 1962. In Virginia the feed supply situation is fairly good as far as hay is con-j cerned. We have seven per cent less hay than a year ago.
