cost-sharing assistance was authorized for conservation practices primarily for the. benefit of wildlife. Under this authority, 45 States offered wildlife conservation practices in 1962. Included in the practices offered jvere (1) establishment of vegetative cover to provide wildlife food plots* and, habitat, (2) development or restoration of shallow water areas, and (3) construction of ponds or dams for wildlife.
