The facts are these: you can earn $1200 a year and still receive a check for every month of the yepr. If you earn over $1200 In a calendar year the amount that will be withheld from your checks depends on how much you earn over $1200. For example, If you earn as much as $1500, you will receive all but $150.00 of your benefits for the year. This Is so because If you earn between $1200 and $1700 you will have withheld from your checks only $1.00 for every $2.00 you earn over $1200.
If you" should earn $2000 you would have $600wlthheldfrortl your check, one dollar for each two for the first $500 over $1200 and one dollar for each dollar over the $1700 up to the $2000.
It should also be remembered that some Income does not count as earnings. Bank interest, veterans pensions or compensation or life Insurance proceeds as well as income from stocks and bondsall of these are not counted as part of the $1200 you may earn each year without having any checks withheld.
