It is really carnival time in Rappahannock. They are coming so fast and close together that I am having a time keeping up with them for the news. Was glad to see Mr. and Mrs. Frank Louckes back in town to help with the Washington carnival. It was unfortunate for us to lose such a good neighbor, friend and willing community worker. 1*11 never complain about the hot weather again. After all my moaning and groaning the past few weeks about the heat and humidity, I started talking from the other side of my mouth at Chester Gap carnival Saturday night. With the sudden drop in temperatures and the brisk breeze which accompanied it, everyone shivered and shuttered and hunted Jackets. Happened to have an old cover in the car which we wrapped up in as we huddled together. Wanted to get a few good candid pictures at Chester Gap but couldn’t find Aubrey North to get him in a big straw carnival hat eating cotton candy. (No bears this year at the cotton candy booth either.) Castleton carnival this week promises some unusual excitement plus all the usual fun and entertainment, then on to Sperryville next week for four nights of fun and frolic plus a good big parade.
