[era, entrance stations, and bulletin boards throughout the Park. The popularity of camping through the country continues unabated and Shenandoah has been no exception. During the Fourth of July weekend there were 7,129 campers In the Park. The majority of them, 5,329 were in the Central District, with Big Meadows receiving the heaviest use, inr c|ud{ngjM)27 in the main camp ground and 2,024 in the overflow area. Lewis Mountain campers totaled 478. Loft Mountain recorded 1,583 camp ers, and there were an additional 220 at Dundo. Both of the latter two campgrounds are in the South District of the Park.

Genetic Make-up of

Cattle Improved

Gigantic improvement in the genetic make-up of Virginia dairy cattle has been accomplished in the last decade. Glance quickly at the State dairy cattle production level in 1953s 8350#M 343#F (All cows on DHIA test).

Then study the preliminary figures for 1963: 11,034#M 423#F and you are bound to agree. Achievements in increasing the production level by individual herd owners throughout the state are even more phenomenal. These increases can be attributed to improvement in three areas - Breeding, Feeding and Management. Without a balanced program in all three, the greater heights of dairy production and profit can never be realized.
