Poverty Program
To Be Discussed Here
Robert Kirby, State Co-ordinator, Office Economic Opportunity, will come to Rappa hannock to explain details of opportunities, requirements and procedures in getting projects started under the Economic Opportunity Act. Mr. Kirby will be at the Court House in Washington at 7;30 p. m. Wednesday, May 5. Arrangements have been made by County Agent, W. H. Lyne, who stated that while no local group or agency had expressed interest in E.O.A, h it is his responsibility as local representative of the educational arm of the USDA to see that people in rural areas have an opportunity to learn about this program.
Lyne explained further that if any program is launched locally under EOA, the Board of Supervisors is the logical agency to be responsible for its administration. Should such come about, the board will need a sizeable Advisory Committee representing a cross-section of the county ' with respect to geographic location of residency, interests, income level and occupation.
