At the District 4-H demonstration contest held in Madison, Ear 1 Yancey won a blue award iri Public Speaking and was an alternate for a free trip to Sl:ate 4-H Short Course Gloria Durden won a red ribbon in Dairy Foods and was second i liternate to State 4-H Short Course. Barbara Durden and Mary Frances Jenkins also attended to learn how the contest Us conducted.
The District 4-H Livestock Contest will be held at Verona near Staiunton, Va. on May 15th. The Tractor Driving Contest will ’toe held in Culpeper on itie s*m*><day, F<iur 4-H members taking part in these events w'ill be announced lates The Sheep Shearing School will be held April 29 at the Beef Cattle Research Statiorjj Front Royal, Va. There is a shortage of sheep shearers in the state. Any 4-H’er or other person interested in learning to shear sheep let me know by April 28, so you may consider taking part in the school.
