Less Pesticide Residue

The Virginia Department of Agriculture (VDA) advises that recent studies bv the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) show the amounts of pesticide residues in the American food supply today are insignificant from a health standpoint and have decreased from previous surveys. Results of the 1964 "total diet" studies by the FDA, an agency of the U. S. Department of Health, Education and Welfare, were made public on April 9th, according to VDA. Similar work is conducted by VDA to determine the quantity of presticides in all kinds of food and drink consumed daily. A department spokes man said that although agricultural chemicals are highly successful in combatting crop-destroying pests, and are essential for crop production, their application must be accompanied by a thorough knowledge of proper usage.
