“Criminal violation of laws
affecting entitlement to social
security payments can result in imprisonment or heavy fines', Hazel F. Daly, District Manager of the Social Security Administration in Winchester, warned today. Mrs. Daly call ed attention to the sentence
imposed, on April 9, 1965, in Federal District Court in Fais mont. West Virginia, on Mrs. Alice M. Shingleton of August^ West Virginia. Mrs. Shingle ton was sentenced to one and one-half years in prision, but the sentence was suspended and she was placed on proba tion for an eighteen-month period. She pleaded guilty to concealing the fact that she had already remarried when she filed a claim as an unremarried widow.
Mrs. Daly said the Social Security Administration has the duty of detecting any fraud that may exist at any stage of the claims operation and of recommending prosecution when the facts justify it. Mrs Daly added that the majority of claims are free from fraud because processes and procedures used by the Adminis tration have been effective in keeping to a minimum the pay ment of benefits to those not entitled to them.

(c) It shall be lawful to hunt raccoon in the National Forests and Commission-owned lands, except Hog Island and Weston Wildlife Refuges, from the third Monday in November through January 31. It shall be unlawful for any person, or group of persons, to take more than two raccoon in any one twenty-four hour period in the National Forests.
(d) It shall be unlawful to take, attempt to take, or molest raccoons in their dens or nests between sunrise and sunset East of the Blue Ridge Mountains.
This shall become effective July 1, 1965.
