Pre-planning plus know-how can combine to save steps and energy during hot weather. Here are hints to help make your summer a time when the living really is easy: Before going out to pick vegetables, scrape your fingernails over a bar of soap. This will prevent any dirt you “pick” from settling under the nails, and the soap “shield” will dissolve and go down the drain when you wash up. Because homemakers must do “dirty” work from time to time, it takes special care to maintain smooth, attractive hands. They should be washed often with warm water and plenty of soap so soil won’t have a chance to become ingrained. It is also helpful to keep hand lotion in the kitchen and to apply it often after wiping hands dry. This helps to prevent hands from becoming chapped and red.

********** An extra laundry hamper, reserved for muddy play or work clothes., and set near the place where the children wash up after chores or lively play., is a real v^ork-saver.
