2 cups sifted enriched Triplett’s

self-rising flour* 1 V* cups sugar 2 eggs

Vi cup all-purpose shortening

1 cup milk

1 teaspoon vanilla extract Grease and wax paper-line 9-inch square pan. Preheat oven to 350°. Into large mixing bowl sift together flour and sugar. Blend in shortening and 2'3 cup milk. Peat 2 minutes on medium speed of electric mixer or 300 strokes ^by hand. Blend in remaining milk, vanilla and eggs. Eeat 2 minutes or 300 strokes more. Turn into pan. Bake 26 to 35 minutes, until cake tester inserted in center comes out clean. Cool in pan on wire rack 10 minutes; remove from pan. Serve warm.

*If you don’t sift and in the absence of other directions, spoon flour directly from container into a one-cup dry measure, level off, then remove two level tablespoonfuls, according to USDA recommendations.
