Library Lines
The Library Board announces that a benefit supper (snacks, sandwiches, drinks) will be served to the public attending the Historic Exhibit at the Library, and the Fourth of July fire works display to be held again on the grounds at Avon Hall, As in other years the people of the County are invited by the Carrigans to attend the fire display on Sun day night, July 4th, The unique luminari will again be placed on the hills and around Avon Lake, Historic items known to have been made and used in the early days of this County are needed for the Exhibit.
From Far Away Shop
Opens This Weekend
The “From Far Away” shop, operated by Mrs. Dolly Biddle, opens Saturday, June 19, at the Cab-Inn, on Highway 211, just outside Sperryville. Mrs. Biddle, who Jormerly owned the Packing Crate Gift Shop in Georgetown, will specialize in the unusual from many countries. From-FarAway goods are imported directly from the Far and Middle East, as well as various European countries. There are tatami mats from Japan, angora rugs and shish-ke-bob skewers from Ankara, worry beads from Athens, hand-tooled leather hassocks from Lebanon; and luncheon sets from the PhlHijpJrtdAf -Ga^ds and gift wrappings for all occasions are available. Mrs. Biddle is the wife of Colonel Biddle, who is assigned at Air Force Headquarters in Washington, D. C. They have lived and traveled in most of the countries from which they now import. The items in the From-Far-Away shop were personally selected by Mrs. Biddle in her travels. Some years ago, the Biddles purchased part of the Kuhn property off the Madison Road, and have built their home high on the mountainside. On Colonel Biddle’s retirement, they will make their home in the F-T valley. The From-Far-Away shop will be open daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
