Carver NFA Chapter
Ranks 3rd in State
On June 8th, sixteen NFA members and two advisors attended what is believed to be the final State NFA Convention at Virginia State College Petersburg, Virginia. The O. R. Johnson had the largest delegation in attendance in the state, followed closely by Northumberland and Louisa counties respectively. Richard Weaver, George Dade and Charlie Rucker of Madison County were placed second in the state in the crop judging contest and were awarded a silver plaque. Richard was high scorer pointwise of the other participants in the entire state. Otis Kilby and Justin Kilby of Madison County and James Gaskins of Culpeper placed second in the livestock judging contest and were awarded a bronze dairy model. Willie Barber of Culpeper won first place in the state in the tractor driving maintenance and care contest. Willie was placed second a year ago. A gold plaque was awarded to Barber for his accomplishments. James L. Greene of Culpeper placed second in the public speaking contest and elected first vice-president for the state for the fiscal year 1965 66. James is also president of the local chapter. The recipient also won second place in the Farm and Home Improvement Award and received a certificate and check for $25.00 from the MasseyFerguson Company.
