Students who receive social security benefits as the children of retired, disabled, or deceased workers can con-j tinue to get the payments after | age 18 if they are attending j school full-time, Mrs. Hazel F. Daly, social security dis- i trict manager in Winchester, ; announced this week. \ Under this new provision, contained in the 1965 amendments to the social security < law, students can continue to receive monthly benefits until they reach 22 or complete their education, whichever is earlier. Students whose benefits were stopped when they reached 18 and who are continuing their education as full-time students will have to file a new ' application in order to have their payments started again. Benefit payments can be made retroactive to January 1965. Young adults who take a fulltime vocational course, as . well as those going to high school or college full-time, are covered by this provision, Mrs. Daly stated. In addition to benefits during the school year, payment can continue during a vacation period of up to 4 continuous months, if the student will be returning to school afterwards.
