When you plant tulip bulbs this fall, here’s something to remember: Keep “broken" tulips away from other tulips and lilies. “Broken" tulips . . also called Rembrandt tulips . . are 'infected with a virus disease that gives the flower a striped blotched and mottled (“broker^ appearance. They’re pretty, but they can cause trouble. U. S. Department of Agricul ture crop specialists warn that virus from these diseased bulbs will infect heajthy tulips ^nd lilies that are planted close to them. Diseased plants get smaller every year and die in 3 to 5 years.
