Archery Season
Oct. 15 - Nov. 15
The statewide archery season for hunting deer, bear, anc squirrels will open Friday, October 15, and continue through November 15. Archers must abide by regular daily and seasonal bag limits except that they may shoot deer of either sex in any oper county during this period. Buchanan and Northampton Coun ties are closed to all deer hunting. For big game, archers must use broadhead arrows with blades at least 7/8" wide and bows capable of propelling any arrow in their possession 125 yards. Firearms may not be carried when hunting “With bow and arrow. All Game Commission Wildlife management areas except Back Bay and Eastern Shore waterfowl areas, Elm Hill, Clinch Mountain and Hidden Valley Wildlife Management Areas will be open during the archery season. Bow hunting will also be permitted on National and state forest lands.
