Rapp. Apple Pie?
Can Barbara Kay Pullen bake an apple pie? *You'd better believe it,” said the judges of the annual Apple Pie Baking Contest held Friday, March 25 at Rappahannock County High School. Barbara, a senior, was the winner of the contest with Frances Tharp, a junior, plac ing second and Nancy Weakley in third place. Barbara will compete in the Apple Pie Baking Contest held in Winchester in connection with the annual Apple Blossom Festival. Competition will take place April 28 at James Wood High School and contestants from Maryland, West Virginia, Pennsylvania and Virginia will be entered. Barbara intends to prove that Rappahannock Apples plus cooking know-how is the combination which makes the best apple pie possible.
Ruritan Prize Winners Announced
Amissville Ruritan Club reported a record turnout for [the annual supper held Saturday evening at Amissville fire hall and president, L. J. Davis, expressed appreciation on behalf of the club for the excellent support of the public. Winners of the prizes award ed following the supper were: first, a portable TV, W. A. Hitt of Alexandria; second, an electric pressure cooker, Jean Hitt, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Talmadge Hitt, Rixey ville; third, an RCA transistor radio, Susan Latham, daughter of Mrs. Sarah Latham, Amiss ville.
