Luray Carillon

Season Opened

I The 1966 season.of carillon (programs at Luray, Virginia’s famed Singing Tower has opened. This is the twenty-ninth annual series of recitals given on the Belle Brown Northcott Memorial Carillon. The Singing Tower and park surrounding it were gifts to the Town of Luray by Col. T. C. Northcott and Mrs. Katherine Graves in memory of Mrs. Graves’ mother, Belle Brown Northcott. Regular recitals will be given on each Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday, March 15 to June 1 at 3:00 p.m.; June 2 to September 30 at 7:30 p.m.; and October 1 to November 16 at 3:00 p.m. A Sunrise Service will be held on Easter Sunday, April 10. Sunset Vesper programs will be given for ten Sundays, beginning the first Sunday in July. Other special services and programs will be announced later. The fame of Luray’s Singing Tower with its forty-seven ibells (largest weighing four tons) has spread throughout the country and the programs attract many thousands of pec pie annually. There is no charge and free parking is provided.
