I speak of these conditions not in a complaining or belittling way but purely to let the citizens of Rappahannock know that we, as taxpayers, in the past have not assumed our educational responsibilities in providing decent and proper facilities. Every generation has its financial educational responsibilities, and it seems to me that we at this time are faced with not only assuming our own current financial responsibilities concerning the school building program but also, to some extent, those of the ones a few years before us. Whether we care to speak of it or not, we cannot help but know that in the very, very near future we shall have a new way of life as far as education is concerned. The colored race and the white race will go to school together and will be taught by teachers of both races. This is a new experience for all concerned, and there will be many adjustments to be made by' all. We shall need decent and proper facilities with quali fied and competent personnel and I think it is the responsibility of the taxpayers to provide the proper facilities for both teachers and pupils. It seems to me for this reason alone we need the larger building, so that all will have the same and equal conditions. I do not teach in the county and I have nothing to gain personally, but I live here, pay my taxes her^ love Rappahannock and want to see it have a high-class educational system. We all realize that the building alone will not attain this goal. It is going to take much more. Since rexpressing my views
