Memorial Day WeekEnd
Traffic Warning
Richmond, Va. . . . “Watch out for the weekends," said Colonel C. W. Woodson, Jr., Superintendent of State Police and Chairman of the Governor’s Highway Safety Committee, as motorists prepared to flock to the roads for the long Memorial Day weekend. On the same occasion last year, also a three-day holiday, 22 people lost their lives in Virginia traffic. Colonel Woodson noted that this was equalled by only one other weekend during the year and exceeded by none. It was also the highest Memorial Day toll on record.
