Wardens are obligated to con fiscate any animal being illegally held and persons holding such an animal are subject to a fine. This forces the Commission to maintain depositories for these kidnapped animals, one of which is located at the Cumberland Game-Farm putting’ art ’ unnecessary- drain on sportsmen's money.
Some persons who kidnap wildlife honestly believe that the animals are abandoned while others deliberately grab them as a cute pet for the kids. Wild animals are rarely abandoned by their mothers though it often appears this way, due to the timid nature of the adults. Wild animals require very special care and are seldom trustworthy once they begin growing up.
In rare cases when a wild mother has been killed by a car or other catastrophe and the young are genuine orphans, the game warden, if notified, will be glad to arrange to have the young animals transported to a place where they will receive proper care.
