After lengthy and thorough discussion by members of the Board of Supervisors and the public attending the hearing Friday, a utility tax was levied in Rappahannock County, effective September 1. The tax of 5% will apply on only the first $10 of telephone and lelectrlcity bills, the only public utilities in the county. I A. McDaniel, representing JPotomac Edison Power Com|pany,
spoke against the levy, (objecting to individuals col| lecting taxes for government and to the added work involv ing the company, However, Me McDaniel said in commenting on the ordinance, that the legislators had done an excel lent job of drafting it if it had to be done. W. C. Campbell appea red before the Board, speaking in favor of an addition to the “Moffett Building" which houses the offices of the Court ty Agent and HomeDemonstr» tion Agent. The addition would be a bath room and a storage facility, and architectural lines would be in keeping with the present building. Total cost of the construction was estimated at $2,600 including new sewage construction if it proved impractical to hook into the disposal system of the other county buildings. Of this
