Schedule Feb. Meet
The, Amissville Homemakers CluBVill meet Monday, February 1, at 7:30 in the education rooms of the Baptist Church. The Club has returned to the first Monday as its meeting date. Mrs. F. L. Bowey is in charge of the program which will be on personal grooming. Mrs. Betty Baldwin will demonstrate “Styling and Care of Hair.” The Federation Program of Work for 1971 will be Safety. The aim of this program is: 1. to help individuals develop a safety consciousness in all phases of her life. 2. to foster positive attitudes in safety among the family members. 3. to help make safety a way of life. Mrs. Stanley Settle is Federation Goal Chairman. Reading certificates are awarded to members reading five books. These may be reputable novels, histories, classics, poetry, non-fiction, fiction, homemaking, religious, hobbies and nature. Read not more than two books in any one category. Condensed books contained in a single volume are accepted as one book. Members are urged to read at least five books to qualify for the certificate which will be awarded on Achievement Night.
Knitting classes under the direction of Mrs. Stewart Cooley and a Needlepoint class taught by Mrs. Herman Terhune were held this month. Work on both of these projects is continuing. Anyone wishing to learn either craft may call Mrs. Charlie Priest to make arrangements.
Mrs. Robert B. Settle has solved an age old problem for the cook. She said she had just learned if the cook would keep her mouth shut, while peeling and chopping onions, there would be no tears. Several ladies have tried it and it really works.
