A graveside funeral serfice for former Seventh District Congressman Burr P. Harrison was conducted in Winchester Monday, December 31, in Mount Hebron Cemetery by the Rev. Clifford Shane.

The eight - term Congressman died early December 29, 1973.

He was born in Winchester and attended public schools along with Woodberry Forest, Virginia Military Institute, Hampton-Sydney College and the University of Virginia. He graduated from Georgetown University Law School in 1926 and was admitted to the bar the same year, beginning his practice in Winchester. He served there as Common.^ wealth’s Attorney from 1932 to 1940; as State Senator from 1940 to 1942; as judge of the Seventeenth Judicial Circuit of Virginia from 1942 to 1946; and
