At 3 a.m. December 31 a single vehicle crash occurred seven miles west * of Sperryville at the top of the mountain. Mary Ann Whisler of Harrisonburg skidded on sleet, struck the bank and turned over.
The road was wet from rain except right at the top of. the mountain, said Trooper Buntin, where it was sleeting. The unsuspecting motorist hit the sleet and lost control of the vehicle. She was not injured and damage to the car was set at $800.
