visits lagging
Visitation to Shenandoah National Park continues to lag from a year ago and the decrease in visitors is 15.6%. To date this calendar year there have been 1,378,200 visitors as compared with 1,633,900 in 1973.
August 1974 visits totaled 334,600 while this month a year ago the total was 392,300. Early spring energy crises accounts for the traffic decrease.
Weather statistics show the maximum temperature at Big Meadows as 80 degrees and the low at 51. Precipitation there totaled 4.14 inches during August.□
