MARKET CONDITIONS were mixed for farm products in the 'Southeast during the week ended September 6, USDA’s Agricultural Marketing Service reports.

Bids to grain producers were sharply lower. Corn was off mostly 15 to 20 cents and soybeans dropped mostly 20 to 25 cents.

Southeastern livestock prices were mixed. Heifers sold steady to $2 higher, while steer calves were mostly steady to $1 lower, and steers were mostly $1 to $2 lower.

GRAIN—Corn and soybean prices were sharply lower for the week ended September 5. Markets were weak early in the week but turned higher Thursday. Light offerings of soybeans were met by a good processor demand. Corn prices strengthened late in the period with a slight increase in demand from export buyers. The market was very sensitive to weather factors and export news.
