BY WESLEY P. JUDKINS Virginia Tech Extension Horticulturist

A SHOCKING BOOK is “Famine 1975” by William and Paul Paddock. This book is concerned with the tremendous problem of feeding the exploding population of the world, and especially in the underdeveloped nations. In fact, the authors say it cannot be done, and that within the next ten years, disastrous famines will occur in many countries.

This book is not intended as a scare campaign. It is sad realism. The authors emphasize that we are approaching a turning point in human affairs which is so immense we cannot appreciate its true significance.
