RAPPAHANNOCK’S Supervisors will be present at the County Planning Commission’s meeting September 18 to talk about hiring the Piedmont Environmental Council to undertake “an environmental inventory and analysis.” The Planning Commissioners think that such a study would be a good first step towards drafting the county’s first comprehensive plan. The Planning Commission has $500 on hand to pay for the study, which would cost the county $1,500, so they have requested that the Supervisors appropriate the rest of the money.
W.P. Dinsmoor White, executive director of PEC, attended the Supervisors’ meeting last Thursday to explain the purpose of an “environmental inventory and analysis.” White had talked to the Supervisors at their August meeting, but they’d asked him to come back this month and bring some more materials, to “make a presentation.”
“We want to help Rappahannock answer three questions,” White said. “Should the county grow? How much should it grow? And where to channel that growth?” He laid out a number of maps on the table before the Supervisors.
