JOHN JONES from the Rappahannock-Rapidan Planning District Commission, asked the Supervisors to appoint two people to serve on a committee to study the possibilities of a regional jail. Representatives from Madison, Culpeper, Greene and Orange counties will also be on the committee, he said.
‘‘At this point, there are no costs involved. The committee will just determine if a jail is needed, where it should be located, how much it should cost and how it should be funded. If there is some cost for making the study, we can probably get a federal grant to cover it,” the spokesman for the district Planning Commission said.
The Supervisors appointed Commonwealth’s Attorney George Davis and Sheriff John Walker Jenkins to serve on the study committee. □
