Feeder steers were $1 to $2 lower except in Florida where they registered steady to $1 higher prices. Heifers and heifer calves registered steady to $2 higher trends, while Florida was up $2 to $4 on calves. The exception to the upward heifer trend was in Alabama where $1 to $2 lower prices were recorded. Many offerings throughout the Southeast entered into slaughter channels rather than feeder outlets.
In representative sales around the Southeast, Choice 200 to 300 pound feeder steer calves sold at $24 to $33; 300 to 400 pounds $27 to $33; 400 to 500 pounds $23 to $31; 500 to 600 pound steers $22 to $30 and in Georgia to $32. Good 200 to 400 pound calves sold at $21 to $29 and in Georgia up to $30.50 on 200 to 300 pounds; and 400 to 500 pounds $19.50 to $28. x
