theastern area. Quality and yields were good. Major factor in lower corn values was attributed to decreased usage by cattle and poultry feed outlets. Cash bids to producers in southeastern Virginia were 23 to 24 cents lower at $2.97 to $3.15; Richmond $3.06 to $3.14; and Wilson, N.C. $2.90. Louisville, Ky. bids were 15 to 15-1/2 cents lower at $3.27-1/2 to $3.35. Ohio Valley points were $3.10 to $3.35. South Carolina, Piedmont and Central area, ranged $3.60 to $3.70.

Alabama trucklot prices were 12-1/4 to 16-1/2 cents lower at $3.46-1/2 to $3.52-1/2. Georgia multi-carlot offerings were 21-3/4 to 28-1/2 cents off at $3.34-1/2 to $3.45-1/2. Terminal offerings at Norfolk and Memphis ranged 14-1/2 to 23 cents lower with Memphis at $3.40-1/2 to $3.54 • and Norfolk at $3.17.

Soybean prices were mostly 20 to 25 cents lower. Bids to producers at southeastern Virginia points ranged $6.62 to $7 and Richmond $6.87 to $6.95. Louisville, Ky. prices were $7.04-1/2 to $7.24; and Ohio Valley $7.12 to $7.18. South Carolina had very light trade activity and many traders were out of the market. There was a flat quotation for all areas of $6.89.

Terminal bids at Memphis were 24-1/2 to 28 cents under the previous week at $7.14-1/2 to $7.18; Norfolk at $7.19 to $7.29 and Raleigh at $7.20. Gulf export bids closed the week at $7.18 to $7.40. New crop soybean bids for October -November delivery F.O.B. Memphis were $7.04-1/2 to $7.14-1/2.

LIVESTOCK—Cattle and calf receipts at southeastern markets dropped sharply during the week ended September 6 but were only slightly lower than a year ago. Feeder cattle prices were uneven and erratic compared to a week earlier. Steer calves sold steady to $1 lower except in Florida where prices were $1 to $3 higher following the sharp decline of the previous week.
