You might hear a lot ofR.C.H.S. students enduring this week with a sigh of relief because of all the testing they have had. Juniors took their preliminary college board tests this past Tuesday; (I think it was the first time they were sorry to have missed first, second and third periods!) standerdized testing will take place Thursday and Friday for ninth, tenth, and eleventh grades.
There was a special assembly sixth period Tuesday. R.C.H.S. was visited by “Larry and his Gyroscopes” who gave a very informative talk and demonstration of the workings and uses of the gyroscope. A couple of students (Dale Frye and Raymond Groves) found out that you don’t fool around with gyroscopes when they were asked to join Larry down front and do just that...without very much luck!
Our Rappahannock Cross Country Team participated in a meet last Saturday, competing against Warren County and James Wood High Schools. The team again brought back a victory with a score of 24. Jerry Thomas came in first place breaking the old course record; Bill Taylor came in second, Ronnie Nicholson fourth, Raymond Groves fifth and Donnell Carter twelfth...I hate to sound repetitious but, Congratulations Again Guys! The next meet is home and the competition is the Hanly cross country team...and don’t forget the district meet, which will also be a home meet on November 2.
