feel that our present ordinances are already worthless regarding the preservation of our agriculture resource base.
The only answer to our mutual desire that Rappahannock’s “present beautiful, healthy, rural way of life be continued and enhanced" is PLANNING. And please remember that planners are not decisionmakers. Plans are approved or disapproved by the voters in public hearings and thru their elected representatives.
As you will undoubtedly report elsewhere in this issue, RLEP’s directors have recently approved creation of a special fund for tax - deductible private contributions. This fund will be at the disposal of the Rappahannock Planning Commission to provide whatever planning tools they may request. We feel that the Supervisor’s categorical rejection of the Commission’s efforts to date, in reality, reflects a financially conservative electorate rather than a vote against planning for the survival of Rappahannock’s natural resources. This is what really matters to us all and RLEP is pleased to offer this further public service of private rather than public funds toward the preservation of our county’s environment.
