A CIT spokesman made the following suggestions for motorists to follow when forced to stop on high speed roadways:
• Pull off the roadway as far as possible.
• Turn on flashers to warn approaching motorists. If a vehicle is not equipped with flashers, place other warning devices.
• Get everyone out of and away from the stopped vehicle.
“Flashers on a stopped vehicle might be confusing to out of state motorists. Several other states require vehicles traveling below a certain speed to use their flashers. Flashers on a vehicle stopped near a driving lane might appear to be a moving vehicle,” warned Hanna.□
