Pete Luke and Fanning Baumgardner noted that Rappahannock’s ordinances include a good bit of information about “goals” for land use in the county. They agreed it might not be thorough enough, but said that the ordinances do include a “broad discussion” of the correction in which Rappahannock wants to go.
McNear noted that much of Rappahannock’s ordinances are based on slopes, using that to require a larger minimum lot size in steep areas. “Requiring a five-acre lot on a 14% slope and allowing a twoacre lot on a 13% slope could well be considered arbitrary,” McNear said.
