IN THE OPEN hurdle race, fourth on the card, Larmonde Stables’ Irish Model and JohnBuress’s Mr. Makeup led from the start around the first turn of the course. Mapk Crippen’s Royal C lost his rider at the first fence and Ready Snodgrass’ Bestoctave was pulled up after refusing the second. As they swung uphill on the final turn, Singing Bill with Noel Twyman riding went head and head with the leader, Irish Model, but the Larmonde Stables’ bay mare pulled away to open up a sixT length lead. Mr. Makeup, Gerry Palmer up, came on again strongly to finish second to Irish Model, ridden by Anthony Price. Third was Singing Bill, owned by William Albright and Clyde Sullivan of Moore County Hunt.
