ther, Joe Aitcheson up, and Cousin Wes ridden by owner Randolph Rouse. They jumped the third fence together, and followed by Martin Kremer’s Score Sheet with Johnny Hughes in the irons, charged up the steep hill.

Cousin Wes had a bad fence at the top and again over the aiken at the bottom of the hill where he took out a rail. Captain Carlo led down the mountain on the final lap by six lengths, but Cousin Wes came on strongly to pass him at the head of the stretch. Veteran Joe Aitcheson, riding a brilliant finish, sent Captain across the wire by a length to the good of Cousin Wes.
