Park cleanup
SHENANDOAH National Park officials are again encouraging volunteers to join their annual Johnny Horizon Cleanup Campaign during the weekend of April 19 .and 20.
Groups or persons wishing to help should identify themselves as Johnny Horizon Helpers to the Park Ranger at the entrance station. He will waive entrance fees for that day, will assign an area to be cleaned, and will provide trash bags and information concerning the handling of items to be recycled.
Johnny Horizon is the Department of Interior’s symbolic character who encourages Americans to protect their environment. Participation in the Shenandoah National Park cleanup is encouraged from outdoor organizations, schools, and youth groups, as well as from concerned citizens.□
