insurance agent to sell flood insurance. One agent commented in Warrenton last month when the Fauquier Supervisors agreed to the federal program, that currently a person can only get flood insurance from a private company if he owns an ark or lives on a mountain top. If the county does not approve the flood hazard map and makes application for the program property owners will not be eligible for any kind of federal home or business aid in the event of flood damage. The only thing the county has to do is assure the federal government that it will enforce the state building code regarding flood-proofing in new construction within the flood hazard zone. The flood hazard zone is temporary and will be designated in greater detail at a later date by the federal government if the county participate^! the program.
