UNEMPLOYED farm workers who are eligible may obtain up to 26 weeks of unemployment compensation benefits by completing and filing an application for such benefits with the local office of the Virginia Employment Commission in Culpeper.
Any benefit payment made will be financed 100 per cent from federal sources in accordance with the Emergency Job and Unemployment Assistance Act of 1974. This program which will continue until March 31, 1976, is available without cost to the individual employers or the State of Virginia.
An eligible farm worker is an individual who becomes unemployed for reasons that are no fault of his or her own and who registers with the Employment Commission as being available for suitable work, who actively seeks a job, and who has sufficient qualifying earnings in his “base year.”
An ineligible farm worker is an individual (1) who has voluntarily quit a job or (2) who has been terminated for cause, e.g. theft, or who refuses to register with
