LANDOWNERS were almost universally of the opinion that the preservation of agriculture enhances Rappahannock as a place to live. However, a rather substantial amount of land in the county is owned by people who are not farming it. About 40 per cent of the non-resident held land is in cropland or pasture, but only 9 per cent of the landowners rent any of this land.
