NOTICE TO THE PUBLIC

Notice is hereby given to the public that the State Corporation Commission is investigating a proposal to increase the local coin rate for pay-station telephone service and a proposal to establish a schedule of charges for calls to Directory Assistance Service. The proposals are to increase the local coin rate for paystations from IOC to 20C and to charge 20C for calls to Directory Assistance Service in excess of three calls a month except for calls from coin telephones, hospitals, hotels, motels, and from handicapped customers who are unable to use a telephone company directory. The proposed charges were first filed by The Chesapeake and Potomac Telephone Company of Virginia, however, because of the interest in the proposals indicated by other telephone companies, and because of the statewide nature of these services, the Commission has expanded its investigation of such proposed charges to include all telephone companies operating in the State.
