THE General Election is next week, Tuesday, November 4, 1975, and at.that time officials for Rappahannock County will be chosen. In addition, one state senate seat will be filled. Only two county offices are contested alone with one supervisor’s seat and the senate seat. Over 2,500 voters are presently registered in Rappahannock County, and a heavy turnout is anticipated. In the last election for county officials, approximately 1,500 ballots were cast.
A three-way race is progressing for a Sheriff of the county with incumbent John W alker Jenkins be - ing opposed by former state trooper William A. Buntin and by oneof his former deputies, Everett J. Estes, both of Washington. Jenkins is from Sperryville and has held the office for one term.
Jenkins is a native of Sperryville, served with the U. S. Army, was once a deputy here and is married to the former Marlene Marr. He is a member and past officer of Sperryville Fire Department.
Buntin was born in Halifax County. He .served with the U. S. Army in the Military Police and was employed as a state police
