late Johann and Minna Sievers Scharmer. He was a retired caterer.

He is survived by his wife, Ingeborg M. Scharmer of Amissville; two sons, John S. Scharmer of San Jose, Calif., and Edward Scharmer of New York, N.Y.; two brothers, Henry Scharmer of New Jersey and Walter Scharmer of Long Island, N.Y.; two sisters, Mrs. Elsie Schenell of Bronx, N.Y. and Mrs. Betty Buchert of New Jersey.

He was a member of the Epicurean Club and a retired chef of DuPont Plaza Hotel, Washington, D.C.

A memorial service was held Wednesday at Clore Funeral Home chapel, Culpeper with father Maurice duCastillion officiating.
