IT ALMOST (but not quite, as you can see from this column) goes without saying that Rappahannock County is going to celebrate the two hundredth anniversary of the Declaration of Independence in a manner that will long be remembered.
Under the experienced chairmanship of Mrs. Dorothy Davis, appropriate observances will take place in each of the 12 months of 1976. The list of these monthly affairs has already been sent to Richmond to appear in the Virginia calendar for 1976 and a duplicate list will be appended here.
The success of these 12 projects will of course depend heavily on Rappahannock’s enthusiasm, and to supply essential information from which that enthusiasm can draw sustenance this column will appear each month from now on until the last toot of ‘76 has tooted itself out.
Individual chairpersons from these events have been or are being chosen, and some are well under way with their plans. The entire program will be a finely orchestrated effort, worthy of the time and place.
CALLS for various kinds of assistance will be from time to time, sounded here, and it will be the happy task of this bugler to keep in time. Please, therefore, listen here and also watch the windows of the Country Store for featured facts of the forthcoming festivities in 1976.
